Why did I become a trainer?
I never really trained any of my dogs before. It wasn’t until I adopted an 85 lb., 18 month old UNTRAINED American Bulldog mix did I fully understand the importance of training your dog….not just for your sanity, but also for his since a trained dog is a happier more settled dog. I quickly learned that I wasn’t training my dog but actually training myself to train my dog -learning how to communicate and show him how to fit in to our household. I am his mentor.
It’s been a challenging and fabulous time. After having worked with numerous trainers with very differing methods, I realized I had a passion to help others find the connection I found – not how to be an overbearing taskmaster, but to be someone my dogs constantly look to for direction. And it’s a two-way street where I constantly learn from them and they learn from me. I am their mentor.
